Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ for Beer Making Workshop and Tasting for One (Individual Workshop)
  Q. I already have a voucher, how do I see available dates to book?
A. Please follow this link

Q. How many people attend an individual beer making session?
A. Currently we take up to 15 attendees at one of these sessions. Attendees work together to brew the 4 or 5 beers begin brewed at a particular session.

Q. What equipment is included in the starter kit?
A. You will find the following items in your starter kit: 10 litre fermenter with lid and grommet, airlock, sanitizer, hydrometer, trial jar, mash bag, 10 500 ml amber PET bottles. Extra equipment required - large stock pot, stove or induction hob

Q: Is prior brewing experience required?
A: No brewing experience is assumed and this workshop is suitable for complete novices.

Q: I would like to brew at home, is this course suitable for me or do you require expensive equipment to brew at home?

A: While the equipment we use may not be entry level equipment for someone taking up brewing as a hobby, our instructors are all home brewers and can advise on different methods and equipment during the course of the workshop.

Q: Could you give a brief outline of what is covered in this course?
A: To start we will measure out grains as per recipe provided and mash in. During the mash our instructor will give an overview of the whole brewing process from start to finish, while sampling different grains and hops. After the mash, we will need to sparge the grain prior to bringing the wort to the boil. Once boiling, hop additions will be made prior to cooling and transfer to a sanitized fermenter.
FAQ for Group Beer Making Workshops

Q: Is the price per person or per batch?
A: The price is per batch of beer (one machine each batch). We take groups of up to three people per batch.

Q: Is it possible to have more than 3 people in a group?
A: It is possible to book a fourth person onto your group workshop by purchasing this addition on our website

Q: Do we have to have three people in our group?
A: Not at all. You are more than welcome to come on your own or as a group of 2 people. We do not match participants with others to make up the numbers.

Q: What time do you start?
A: We have multiple time starts depending on the day of the week. Please check your booking for time of workshop.

Q: Do I need to bring anything?
A: In the interest of safety, please wear appropriate shoes and long pants. Be aware that this is a working environment which may have wet flooring and/or trip hazards such as hoses. Enthusiasm is always welcome. Home brew is appreciated if you have it. We aim to provide everything you need for your brewing workshop.

Q: What can I brew?
A: We have many tried and tested recipes which covers a large amount of beer styles, however if you are a very clear idea of what you'd like to brew please get in touch and we shall do our best to enable you to brew whatever you wish. Due to recommended fermentation temperature, we strongly advise against trying to brew a lager or pilsner style beer as we cannot accommodate the lagering process.

Q: Is the bottling workshop included in the workshop price?
A: Yes, we try to avoid hidden extras.

Q: I would like to purchase a workshop as a gift but don’t know which date to book. Do I need to select a date?
A: Not at all, please select an "undated" in the drop down menu for dates.

Q: Is there a time limit to come back and bottle our beer after the workshop?
A: We strongly recommend to bottle the beer within about 6 weeks. When left in the fermenter for several months most types of beers will develop off flavours and can become fairly undrinkable. We reserve the right to dispose of the beer if you have not made arrangements to bottle and collect it after 2 months.
